Have you ever been screamed at?
In my family, as an employee, and now as an entrepreneur and business owner, I’ve been screamed at more than a few times.
The loud voices, ALL CAPS emails, and texts sting.
At some point, I started telling myself that every scream is ice cream.
If someone screams at me, I think ice cream.
It helps me focus on what is being said and not get caught up in the tone.
I’m not excusing the behavior.
I’m trying to separate the message from the way it’s delivered.
It doesn’t always work.
But when it does, I notice I’m less reactive and more able to respond.
